Use of artificial intelligence

The policy of the journal "Forestry, Forest, Paper and Woodworking Industry" regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools is based on the statements of COPE, WAME, JAMA Network, and ICMJE recommendations.

Authors must provide information about the Elsevier use of AI tools when writing the article.

In the cover letter addressed to the journal editors, authors are encouraged to provide a comprehensive account of the utilization of AI technology throughout the various stages of their research. This entails a clear delineation of AI's involvement, whether in the composition of the manuscript, the development of visual content such as images or graphics within the article, or during the processes of data collection and analysis. It is imperative that authors provide explicit details regarding the specific AI tools employed in their study. This data should be transparent and disclosed in the materials and methods section.

AI tools cannot be credited as the author of the article, given their inability to fulfill the necessary criteria for authorship, as they cannot be held responsible for the submitted work. Moreover, as non-legal entities, they cannot declare or disclaim conflicts of interest, nor can they manage copyright and license agreements.

Authors are required to openly declare and affirm that any content produced through AI or AI-enabled technologies in their work is free from plagiarism, adheres to the ethical policies of the journal, and has not been previously submitted to or considered by another journal.

It is the responsibility of authors to ensure the precision of the presented material and to guarantee the absence of plagiarism in any content generated by chatbots, such as ChatGPT. Additionally, authors are expected to acknowledge all sources, including materials generated by chatbots, within their articles.
