Archiving, Open Access, and Long-Term Preservation Policy

The journal adheres to an Open Access policy, which means that all content is freely available to readers and their institutions without any charge.

No fees are charged for open access. All articles are published in open access immediately upon release of an issue, in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition of Open Access.

The Journal ensures long-term digital preservation, free access, and the possibility of reuse of all published materials in accordance with the principles of open science and academic integrity.

Access Rights

All articles published in open access are permanently available for:
– reading;
– downloading;
– copying;
– distribution.

Full-text access to all articles is provided via the “Archives” section on the official website of the Journal.

Reuse of published materials is governed by the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).

This license permits users to:
– copy and redistribute the material;
– create extracts, summaries, and derivative works;

Authors’ Rights

Authors retain copyright and the right to use their work for scholarly purposes.

The journal Scientific Bulletin of UNFU is granted the right of first publication and distribution of the material.

Authors have the right to:
– use the article in their own research and teaching activities;
– deposit all versions of their work (preprint, Author’s Accepted Manuscript, Publisher’s PDF) in institutional or subject repositories or on personal websites;
– disseminate their work without any embargo period.

A mandatory condition is to provide a proper reference to the published version of the article using its DOI.

Repositories and Archiving

The Journal provides real-time full-text access via the “Archives” section, which includes all issues and articles without any time limitation.

In addition, the Journal stores metadata and full texts of articles in institutional repositories.

Technical Preservation Measures

To ensure long-term preservation, the Journal uses the following technologies:
– storage of materials in stable electronic formats ensuring accessibility and reproducibility;
– indexing of metadata and full texts in national and international information systems;
– regular backups and technical monitoring to prevent data loss.

The Journal platform, Open Journal Systems, supports the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), which ensures long-term digital archiving.

PKP PN is integrated with the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system, which provides:
– decentralized and distributed storage;
– continuous access to content;
– preservation of the original version of materials.

LOCKSS is an open-source system developed by the Stanford University Libraries that enables automated archiving and restoration of content in case of loss or corruption.

PKP PN also enables long-term preservation for journals that are not part of other archiving services (such as CLOCKSS or Portico).

Guarantees of Accessibility

The Journal ensures long-term accessibility of its content by:
– using standardized file formats (PDF);
– assigning a DOI to each publication;
– complying with OpenAIRE standards to support indexing and accessibility.
