Biology and ecology of vegetation in the forests is very varying and formed in the process of the prolonged evolution. Conservation and sustainable use of forest ecosystems is one of the most important environmental goals today. In this study, special attention was directed to the vegetation of beech forests (Fagus sylvatica L.) in forest-park zone of Lviv city. Beech stands of the Lviv region are among the most productive in Europe and are characterized by hight diversity of herbaceous plant species. The viablity of the forest vegetation, to the large extent, depend on an tree layer. Influence of the canopy on a herb layer changes during the period of vegetation.
